Fuckin A is right ! This bullshit is totally intolerable to me. Anyone so enamored with putting the Mexican flag above the American flag should damned well take their asses back to Mexico.

By an overwhelming margin every single piece of legislation regarding granting citizenship or amnesty for illegals on the federal level in the last 6 months or so here has been defeated. This has been achieved by the American people flooding their congressional members offices with calls and faxes to deliver their thoughts to them.

My question is WHEN will the illegals themselves get the point ? As illegal members of our society they are by and large unwelcome here and really ought to save us all a lot of BS and just head back to where they came from !

And .... just as a special note to anyone who is illegally residing within the US borders, here's my thoughts summed up pretty succinctly the

Apparently, he "stole" the American flag from the bar owner when he cut it down and walked away with it.the

There are a lot of posts floating around the net from seemingly angry Vets claiming Mr. Broussard actually washed out of the military in less than 6 months and never saw any actual service off his own base despite training for Vietnam. While they think it's cool what he did they seem pretty pissed that he's being hailed as some hero Vet.

It seems that a certain perverse form of political correctness has swept the common sense of people and those who govern them.

The same holds true elsewhere in Europe, where comments construed as inflammatory or anti-semetic or whatever else are punishable.

It's time for people to reclaim their countries and fiercely defend their sovereignity, and elect a government that works FOR the people, not the other way around.

there should be three flags hanging... on top the canadian, under that, the american, and under that the mexican... to be geographically correct

me, i don't fly any of these flags and show no allegience to any of them

btw, china is not, nor was ever communist... went back to capitalism from socialism after mao's death which is a real tragic for the people of china and sure as was not something they needed, mao's great failure was the failure to produce other great revolutionary leaders during his lifetime to carry the torch... also the lack of an internationalist revolution...

but back to flags... wtf is so sacred about this or any other flag anyways? some people are willing to sacrifice their own life for a piece of cloth yet value their lives more than what this flag is supposed to stand for
how can we be sure of having anything to live for unless we are willing to die for it?
or how about the american revolutionary version give me liberty or give me death
somehow it was perverted into i'll settle for just a symbol of my liberty, and if just that symbol is threatened i will be willing to kill and die for it... you can take my actual freedom however

The bar owners were not wrong to fly their flag. They were wrong to fly it above the American Flag. Even when 2 or more flag poles are use , no other flag is allowed to be flown higher than the American flag. Americ is the country of our birth and the chosen country of others so it should always come firt. When people immigrate to this country they take an oath to put America first and foremost. They can still maintain a love for their mother country but they can no longer put it first. If they don't become citizens of this country after a given amount of time then they need to leave.

Pro, all I can say is you must have been reading some revisionists version of history to come to your above conclusion.

Texas had applied for statehood in the US BEFORE the Texas army threw out the Mexican forces within the state and the US govt. basically said until you and Mexico get your shit sorted out, we want no part of Texas as a state.

The Texas army, a rag tag bunch of ranchers, farmers and the like, much less well equipped (and way outnumbered) compared to Santa Annas Mexican army, met and defeated them and achieved independence from Mexico. The US govt. had no part of that battle, nor was there even any form of support from them, so they get no credit for having helped Texas achieve independence from Mexico tongue

I had not seen this before, so thanks for posting some fresh comments to bring it to my attention!

I am proud of my country (New Zealand for those who don't know) and if I moved to another country I would still be proud to be a kiwi and would possibly fly a New Zealand flag (we are not big into flags down here like the Americans are), so I can understand the Mexican's wanting to fly their flag. Before you all lynch me for saying that though, if I moved to another country there would have been a good reason to do so, i.e. I wanted to be there, so I would 1. Follow the laws of that country so I don't get arrested/deported and 2. Respect the culture of that country. So if I were to fly a NZ flag in the US, even without knowing the law, it would be below the stars and stripes. You would have to be a retard with your head so deep in a hole (I will let your imagination tell you which hole I might be referring to) to not know that Americans love their flag and see it as the prime symbol of their patriotism. What I am trying to say then is that the bar owner was either stupid or trying to stir up trouble, or most likely both.

Has anybody got an update on what happened in court over this?

Aftermath

Brossard appeared with talk radio host Bill Manders on Fox News' Your World with Neil Cavuto on October 3 and said that he "heard on Bill Manders' show that the flags were flying as they were. I found it disturbing to the point that I had to do something about it. I grabbed my Ka-Bar, I went down there, I left my vehicle a couple of doors down, I found TV cameras rolling as I walked up, I did what was in my heart."

Talk radio host Mike Gallagher told Brossard during an October 3 interview, "I can promise you that Americans view you as a hero." During that interview Brossard explained that his primary concern was what Gallagher referred to as the 'Hispanification' of America. Brossard said, "I feel there’s a lot of this turning our heads on things in concern to the Hispanic community and the things they do. They seem impervious to our laws in a lot of situations."

A veterans' group, the U.S.S. Intrepid Association Inc., in November 2007 presented Brossard with a U.S. flag that had been raised over the Intrepid July 12, 2007.

Although Cavuto, Gallagher, and other reporters stated that flying the U.S. flag in this manner is illegal, the Reno Police Department and the Nevada chapter of the ACLU issued separate press releases stating that while both U.S. code and Nevada statutes contain protocols relating to the display of the American flag, the protocols are advisory only and carry no sanctions for violation.

The Director for the Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada, Bob Fulkerson, called Brossard's actions "criminal". Right Wing Watch, the online newsmagazine of People for the American Way, called him a vigilante.
The owner of the bar did not press charges against Brossard.

Ka-Bar, the manufacturer of the knife Brossard used, made a Jim Broussard commemorative edition of the military knife

Thanks pro for the update. Reading that it was not actually illegal to fly the flags that way, I now feel Brossard was a bit too hot headed in that situation. I know how Americans almost idolise their flag and, as stated in my last post, see it as a prime symbol of their patriotism, so I can understand his feelings, but there were probably better ways of dealing with it. I stand by my last post in that I believe the bar owner was stirring up trouble.
