That is my point exactly - they wont approach you and ask for your wallet at gunpoint, they will shoot you from behind or from cover before you have a chance to draw your weapon and then just take your wallet and your gun. I'm sure the police will really enjoy the extra work they have to do checking out everybody they see carrying a firearm under your proposal, because all the police I know are so underworked at the moment. Under your proposal the logical conclusion is that we will eventually be walking down the road with body armour on and guns drawn with safety's off so we can defend ourselves if need be. It's an escalation that will only lead to an escalation from the criminals that will lead to an escalation in defences which will lead to an escalation from the criminals which will lead...
