When I got my first job in 1977 the minimum wage then was equivalent to a
little over $10 in today's economy. While housing, transportation, and all other
basic living expenses have grown wages have not kept up, the federal minimum
wage now being $7.25 while tipped employees minimum is $2.13. Florida has been
better than federal for some time with minimum wage being $8.65 which just
increased to $10 and set to increase by $1 each year until 2026. Minimum for
tipped employees here is now $6.98.

Tipping here is for excellent service, and even then voluntary (though some
places are pushing it a bit more). I don't understand the US tipping culture. I
wholeheartedly believe that prices should factor service into them (and tax, for
that matter).
Minimum wage here is $20.33 (~$15 USD) (edit: along with 10 paid sick days per
year and 4 weeks annual leave) and casual employees get a 25% loading.
I completely agree that wages haven't kept pace with prices. Even though my wage
has gone up I easily earn less now than 5 or 10 years ago.

The U.S. is working hard at returning to feudalism and the people who are
enabling it are the ones most harmed by it. They'll cut their own throats in the
name of "patriotism" unaware that what they think of as patriotism is
really nationalism which always becomes murderous and suicidal.

One of my favourite quotes I saw somewhere a few years ago was in regards to
taxing the ultra wealthy in the US a higher amount.
"Good luck becoming a billionaire then!" said the toothless guy who
lived in a trailer.
It never ceases to amaze me how much Americans believe that it's only a matter
of time until they make it big, that pay day is coming, so we need to keep the
rich getting richer because "one day that will be me".
It won't be.
