That's not a picador. That's a Rejoneador (maybe Spanish), a matador that rides
a horse. In Portugal they're called Cavaleiros and wear different clothes (sec.
XVI replicas). The Horse Bullfighting is best developed in Potugal, where most
of best Worldwide Cavaleiros are from.
Picadores are the horseriders that perform before "on foot" Matadores
start their job, but in Portugal the Matadores perform without picadores.
But that's not a sport...

i think this is one of those photos designed to show how cruel the bullfights
are... if you look at Mr Eds back left leg you'll see its pretty dam broken
