Good guess Fossil. Right country, wrong river.
*hint* this picture was taken on a trail to the deepest gorge in the world.

The Tsangpo

It's very close to the border between China and Tibet but the gorge is in China
and has a different name. Nope not the Tsangpo.
At least according to my source it says "Gorge , which is believed to be
the deepest gorge in the world. From the top of the gorge you look down the
steeply angled (70-90 degrees) mountain sides to the rushing River with its 18
frothing rapids more than 200 meters (about 700 feet) below."

Tiger Leaping Gorge
This picture was taken by my parents when they were on a trip near Lijiang
China. it's a view of the Golden Sands river on the trail to Tiger Leaping
Gorge.
I had a feeling it might not officially be the deepest in the world because it
said so on a travel page; and there is this slim chance they may say something
like that to increase the chance tourists might want to go there.
Sorry if my clue was misleading.

That's OK...
We will forgive you this time!
But do not do it again, or we will think nasty thoughts about you - maybe...
