I don't think it's a big deal nowadays..
but used to be if a company pissed you off you could overpay your last bill and
they would have to refund the over-payment...then if you didn't cash the check
it would fuck with their accounting dept...
they sent me a few letters asking me to cash this check and even sent out a
replacement check...

a laundromat washing machine ripped me off $1.50 one time.
i called the company not realizing or considering they'd send me a
check....duh
they sent a check for $1.50.
a couple years later i found the check in a pile of other shit.
one of the grandkids was "helping" me sort the shit out and found
it.
he went ape shit thinking he hit the jackpot.
the sadist i am, gave it to him and loaded him up in the truck to go to the
store and spend it.
he got 2 boxes of M&M's, slapped 'em down on the counter smiling.
he thought he was big time.
then he said he wanted to pay with a check.
the cashier looked at him, then me, i just smiled, waited a minute or so
watching the dumbfounded look on both of their faces......and slipped her some
cash when he wasn't looking.
that was 3-4 years ago and he still tells the tale with his chest sticking out.
yes, I'm easily amused.
