Led by France, the European Union has informed the world of it's intention to supply advanced weaponry to China. This was banned after Beijing's bloody crackdown in 1989 on protesters during the Tiananmen Square demonstrations. France feels this will lead to better ties with the communist nation and check American influence in the region. French arms suppliers will also be happy. This move will upset the balance of power in the region and has apparently encouraged China to put into motion it's plans to start a war with Taiwan. The overwhelming majority of Taiwan's population do not want to join China. This war would be undoubtedly cause a severe disruption to the world economy.
