Yep, tardded1 guessed it first (unless spooks aren't fly, which I do not know because I don't knoew the word spook).
It is interesting the comment of 160201 because he/she lists mediterranean countries, and curiously I had never seen this trick before going to mexico: meybe us italians don't use it, but other close to us do.
