There are some unusual twists and contradictions to the example I made above.
Adolf Hitler was an animal lover, who had an Alsatian (German Shepherd) named "Blondie" who spent most of her time at her master's side, thoroughly unaware I'm sure, that her caretaker was a monster who was responsible and complicit in the systematic murder of more than six million people.
He also wrote some rather bizarre things pertaining to the humane treatment of animals intended as food. Like how to humanely cook a Lobster.
