I don't like cities but prefer to have civilization fairly nearby. I watched this video series of a Canning Stock trip a couple of months back. This guy is my age and has been doing off road travel series and books since the dark ages in Africa. He moved to Perth a couple of years ago and started doing trips in Oz. He's done a few in the U.S. as well. Right now he's just about done building his new truck for more travel in the outback.
