He was essentially a prop comic and the
Sledge-O-Matic bit was basically mocking television infomercials..
of course there was much more to his act then smashing stuff with a giant homemade sledge hammer.
He was pretty funny but then again the 80's were a simpler time and we were more easily amused then imho.
