Well, I just find it funny how the elections are coming up and the gas prices
have fallen. Coincidence? I think not. I've always felt Bush could've done
something about it sooner. The gas prices are my only gripe at this point.
festus Report This Comment Date: September 26, 2006 08:29AM
One main reason is that Chevron just found a mammoth
pool of oil in the gulf of Mexico and also winter
is approaching.Among other factors there is a glut
of oil around right now.In my opinion Bush didn't have fuck all to do with
it.Most of the price we all pay at the pump is government taxes and really and
truly the oil companies deliver that fuel to us at an astonishingly low price.A
1 liter bottle of water is almost 10 times the price of gas if you take the
fed-tax off of gasoline.Bush didn't cut any fuel taxes as far as I know.Fire
away naysayers

No, I agree with that festus. Damn point on water vs gas. And that's what makes
it such a joke.
Gas should be dearer - the price needs to ne higher. That is the only thing that
will let us break our addiction to the stuff, before it all runs out abruptly
and global warming turns the place into a flaming desert.

Are you all fools?
Oil prices went through the roof because speculators wanted to make money
through stock manipulation.
The US's oil supply did not diminish. It was never in danger so why would the
price rise?
Some already rich people decided they could take a lot of money from the
american people by driving the price of oil up. And it was not the oil company
executives. They were just the beneficiaries of these speculators illegal
behavior.
Well these rich people made their money but the threat of a federal criminal
probe drove them out. So, to keep from getting busted for stock manipulation
they sold off their oil shares thus driving down the price.
Less than 20 very rich people made 100s of billions on oil speculation on Wall
Street since the occupation of Iraq began.

Since Saddam was yanking oil prices up and down (by pumping to his UN brokered
max one week, then closing the spigots next) the US Oil Companies and the Saudis
were in favor of shutting down Iraq's production back to a consistant level, or
none at all. It worked. Prices stabilized (higher), and the rich got richer.
Oh, and VP Dick Cheney's former company (Hallitosisburton) got super rich with
exclusive contracts for Army logistics.
Yeah? And? The corrupt are pushing their advantage, and the majority of
Americans are (a) totally in the dark, or (b) too economically pinched to
care.
Democracy rests on two things:
(1) A reasonable educated population (clearly not in evidence in the US), and
(2) the basic security of sensible universal health care (totally non-existent
in the US).
Without those two pillars, democracy is in serious danger.

Interesting tidbit
I seen a U.S. soldier awhile back on T.V. and he was
totally pissed of because he had to protect some
Haliburton hippy bus driver in Iraq. The soldier was
mentioning how the bus driver had the most gravy job
and only had to work a few hours a day and that he was making approx 100k a year
versus the soldiers'
approx 20k a year.I can't say I blame him.I think
soldiers that are in the "shit" everyday should get
quadruple their normal pay.

Beast. Seems to me , I remember that when the prices were going up on gas you
were claiming it was all because of the administration. Now when the prices are
going down you claim they were manipulated by unnamed people to control the
market and only go down because of a threatened investigation by the federal
government, which you hate. I see inconsistencies here. When prices were high
you blamed Bush, now when they are going down you say federal investigations.
Why not just say thank you Mr. Bush?

Stop making excuses for the Bush administration. Bush has been a failure his
entire life and he continues that trend as president.
The worst part is that the Bush adminsitration pays ALL media outlets to run
their propaganda campaign to paint a rosy picture of everything the Bush
adminstration has done.
The biggest money spent is for liberal news outlets like CNN, Washington Post,
and the NYT.
Conservative voters like yourself are going to believe anything the Bush
administration says no matter if God came down and said Bush is a fucking liar.
However, middle of the road voters and liberals trust their news sources are not
being paid to tell lies to the american public. They still have blinders on and
that is what the Bush administration is counting on.
