Wanting things carried out correctly is an american value.
Seems many conservatives don't give a shit about being beyong reproch when
carrying out justice.
These same conservatives go running to ACLU lawyers when it's their ass in a
sling.
Hypocritical self centered assholes.

Please expound on this assertion.

People have no clue about the real agenda of the ACLU. Even people who have
gone to work for them thought they were doing something noble until they got on
the inside and discovered the truth. Always remember one very important fact -
the ACLU was started in the United States by a true communist with the idea of
using our own legal system to destroy this country, and of course with the help
of a few sympathetic judges over the years, they have had their success stories.

Pretty bold... got a link or some sort of reference for that?

I just use my brain to pay attention to people without an agenda and I've heard
some very serious analysis over the years about the ACLU and I assure you what
I've said is true. About 10% of the time they will take on common sense cases
we can all agree on, but the rest of the time they are either trying to push
religion out of our lives or figuring out how to get some guilty piece of shit
off death row. A lot of people think they are fighting on behalf of the little
guy but when you cut through all the shit you see what it's all about - a
left-wing agenda designed to bring down the basic value system that keeps our
country from tearing itself apart.

Just as we suspected - you have no reference or basis for any of that waffle.
You are so deluded we would be wasting our time arguing with you. Been visited
by aliens lately?

Beast, I was referring to the first sentence - the one queried by gruff.
If I may be so bold, I would posit that all cultures hold the maxim of carrying
things out well as something dear to their hearts.
Each culture holds quite different things important - and obviously only the
important things can get the attention to be done well.
Other cultures do what they see as important well - but because we don't value
those things, we don't observe this. And we see them ignoring aspects that
matter more to us than them.

I thought that we established, last week, that the most important thing to
Americans was GUNS!
I would add that TELEVISION is a near second.
The most important thing to D.C. politicians, however, is MONEY, regardless of
where it came from.
messyflatmate Report This Comment Date: May 10, 2006 11:52AM
Beast - i forgot to add a smiley to my earlier comment towards you. Hard work
getting the tone right in writing. No offence intended.
John, its shurely not just D.C. politicians ?! Although I am still a bit
perplexed by a relatively-recent change by Aus federal politicians. They REDUCED
the overly generous superannuation scheme that they all enjoyed.
But in a nice touch, they only reduced it for future politicians - not
themselves. I guess that tells us something.

Yeah isn't it interesting that politicians are the only employee group I can
think of empowered to write their own paychecks without even a need for approval
by their employers? Whatta nifty lil perk indeed.
