I have some reprints of the early Batman comics; I will look and see if I can find the reference. It does not surprise me though. Bob Kane was actually requested by officials to tone the comic down. Why? Because the Batman was a psycho-vigilante who took no prisoners. Officials were afraid of copycats. Speaking of that, somewhere I also have a strip of Superman beating the shit out of a wife-beater. Superman wasn't so nice either.
