mkcerusky: 16130 has your definition. "to loot" as a verb means "to steal". It is typically applied during riots. People loot from businesses, not houses, typically.

I think the 'hanging out back' was meant in the sense that these white men lynched some black "looters".

The whole looting thing came up during the Hurricane Katrina aftermath.. blacks taking food and water from businesses were called "looters" by the media, and whites doing the same thing were described as "finding". There is a post a few weeks back on 613 that makes this point.

Just FYI, it's spelled "metaphorically".
