My all time favorite WW2 aircraft, that and the P-38 Lightning. Back in '96 I worked with a crew at the Reno air races on one of the P-51 unlimiteds. Helped them swap out an engine with a blown #7 cylinder...took all saturday night into the early morning hours. The team had three spare engines in the trailer...valued at $250,000 each!
