Duane, you are gullible if you believe the US is there for "Democracy" and "saving the Iraqi people". If that is truly the goals of the Administration, they then would have engaged UN inspectors to keep Saddam from trying anything, and actually fomented democratic action ... not military invasion. That's stupid.

Military invasion has guaranteed generations of "terrorists" to come.. membership in Al Qaeda blossoms, and "5% of muslims trust the USA now", as opposed to a majority before the war. So the true global situation is worse, not better, than the invasion and occupation - which, btw, is going to be more or less permanent.

So the goals must =really= be about expanding corporate "free-trade" markets into the closed economies of West Asia, circling China, and trying to control central asian fuel supplies (as opposed to letting the "free-market" do that "naturally", no we have to use the military and kill hundreds of thousands of people.)
