Does driving a desk pay more? The same or close but home at regular hours? Other advantages?

The vast majority of desk jobs in the trucking industry pay less than what drivers make..
Freight Brokers can eventually earn the same or more than a driver, and of course the owner of the company will make more too..
but over the years all of the supervisors I've had made less and all of the dispatchers made far less..

My job now has virtually nothing to do with trucking and it pays roughly half of what I can make as a trucker.
After over 2,000,000 miles through 47 of the contiguous 48, I'm burnt out on it.
The new job pays less but the schedule is 12 hour shifts, 4 on / 4 off and so I'm home far more often now.

So definitely other advantages. I hope you recover, have all your bills paid and so on.

The problem we have in our mines, that pay very well, is people spend all they earn, then can't afford a dentist. No good role models, so they don't plan ahead. In the end they have a list of repossessions, a wife and one or two kids in a caravan. For being burnt out earning heaps.

Someone else pays off a comfortable house, not a million dollar one, a practical car, not a $120K ute =a UTE!= and has investments, change jobs to be home regularly and watch the kids grow up in eight years. But this person is building wealth, not transferring it to someone with a marketing budget. Life's not what it's made out to be.
